To address this, we’ve focused on expanding the commercial vehicle EPS market. What is an Electric Power Steering System?
The Electric Power Steering (EPS) system is a sophisticated device designed to improve driving dynamics by precisely controlling the direction of rotation of the steering assist motor and adjusting the amount of assist torque. This is accomplished by the electronic control unit (ECU), which processes and calculates data such as vehicle speed and steering torque applied by the driver. By dynamically analyzing these inputs, the EPS system optimizes the steering assist effect, providing the driver with an intuitive and responsive steering experience tailored to different driving conditions.
It replaces HPS’s hydraulic setup with an electric motor. It includes an Electronic Control Unit (ECU), torque sensor, vehicle speed sensor, electric motor, and steering column assembly. The EPS motor can be installed in various positions, offering different assistance methods: Column-EPS (C-EPS), Pinion-EPS (P-EPS), Dual-Pinion EPS (DP-EPS), and Rack-EPS (R-EPS).

What is an Electric Hydraulic Power Steering?
The Electric Hydraulic Power Steering System (EHPS) enhances upon the traditional HPS by integrating electronic control units like the power steering ECU, solenoid valves, vehicle speed sensor, and steering angle sensor. In EHPS, power is sourced from an electric motor, boosting controllability. This motor’s electronic control unit adjusts steering assistance based on real-time data such as vehicle speed and steering angle, optimizing energy usage and enhancing vehicle stability, especially during high-speed maneuvers.

What is Steer-by-Wire (SbW) system?
Steer-by-wire, in simple terms, transfers the vehicle’s steering control from manual operation to a computer system, eliminating traditional mechanical linkages like gear shafts and racks. These physical components are no longer necessary, and full decoupling can even be achieved. The driver’s steering input is transmitted entirely via electronic signals to the ECU, which processes the commands and sends them to the steering system to execute. With full electronic control, the steering ratio and driver feedback can be dynamically adjusted to suit road conditions and the driver’s preferences.
